Director of Finance & Administration

Your Mandate:

You will work collaboratively with the eleven-x team, responsible for all areas relating to daily operations of the accounting department and financial reporting, including: oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, accurate and timely financial statements. You will also have responsibilities for supplier management and overseeing procurement activities.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will have regular contact with other members of eleven-x’s senior management and sales teams. You will be in day-to-day contact with external parties including bankers, tax accountants, lenders, auditors and vendors. You are resourceful, flexible, reliable, and entrepreneurial. You enjoy challenges, while working closely with stakeholders in a fast-paced, small team environment.

There are currently two direct reports for the role:

  • Office Manager
  • Senior Financial Associate (Contract)

Your Responsibilities:

Finance

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of accounting team, including: accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, processing month and year end accounting entries, check runs, wire transfers, debt activity
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Review and provide monthly analysis on expenses
  • Coordination of annual SR&ED filings and tax return preparation with external advisors
  • Quarterly HST/GST tax filings
  • Supports CEO with budget and cash flow forecasting activities; including financial modelling
  • Support of fund raising activities and management of government programming, rebates, tax credits, grants and other funding the Company is eligible to receive as we continue to scale
  • Continuously improve the efficient accounting and finance procedures and use of resources, while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Coordinate and complete annual audit
  • Improve overall company systems and procedures, including implementing new software as required (expense reporting, travel management, HRIS, etc)
  • Managing administration of Employee Stock Option Plan, including granting of stock options, issuance of shares, maintaining employee records and proper documentation on file for all participants

Payroll

  • Manage bi-weekly disbursement for approx 30 employees
  • Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations are accurate and timely
  • Work with Ceridian to ensure proper reports, tax filings and other payroll requirements are met
  • Provide payroll information to employees, answering any questions and requests
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to increased efficiency
  • Tracking and reporting of employees paid vacation days, including implementation of an automated system

HR

  • Maintaining and ensuring proper individual employee records on file, including offer letters, IP agreements, etc.
  • Working with Head of HR to proactively write and/or update HR policies and procedures as needed
  • Managing employee benefits plan, including regular reporting to the management team of utilization and providing recommendations for improvements or changes

Supply Chain

  • Working closely with hardware engineering, and software teams in overseeing supplier engagement and materials ordering
  • Liaise with operations team regarding inbound product delivery timing
  • Manage supply chain relationships and contracts

Operational Support

  • Manage contract administration activities including NDAs, customer agreements, and vendor agreements
  • Some facilities management and coordination with landlord as pertains to our tenant’s lease agreement
  • Other activities as assigned by CEO

What You Will Bring to Our Team:

  • Post-secondary education with diploma or degree in Accounting
  • Sound knowledge of accounting procedures and practices with 7 + years of financial and cost accounting experience; strong financial modelling experience
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment and job requirements, including to learn, research and apply applicable laws, rules, and regulations, research and implement new software and banking solutions to improve efficiencies
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

IoT Solutions Developer

Your Mandate:

  • Work with the customer in conjunction with the sales team to understand project needs and design solutions.
  • Develop and customize our LoRaWAN device platform to project requirements.
  • Test and evaluate third party LoRaWAN solutions for suitability and work with partners to resolve issues.
  • Maintain and develop our Python based test platform.
  • Plan network and solution deployments.
  • Integrate our solutions with customer and partner web applications.
  • Occasional travel to customer site.

Required skills and experience:

  • Degree in computer engineering, computer science, mechatronics, or similar
  • C programming experience
  • Solid Python experience (SQL, Flask, pytest, threading, etc.)
  • Understanding of embedded systems
  • Exceptional problem solving and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Hard working and dedicated
